Little Is Much

Gratefulness attracts blessings and brings about more outpouring of unending favor. A fact proven from an illustration in yesterday's story.
 "How often are we grateful? Do we show gratitude for blessings received?" Not often enough. Some of us do not at all.

Nothing just happens without reason; no matter how insignificant it may seem to us.

Rev. John R. Ramsey tells how in one church a certain person provided him with a rose boutonniere for the lapel of his suit every Sunday. At first he really appreciated it but then it sort of became routine. Then one Sunday it became very special. As he was leaving the Sunday Service a young boy walked up to him and said, "Sir, what are you going to do with your flower?" At first the preacher didn't know what the boy was talking about. When it sank in, he pointed to the rose on his lapel and asked the boy, "Do you mean this?" The boy said, "Yes, sir. If you're just going to throw it away, I would like it." The preacher smiled and told him he could have the flower and then casually asked what he was going to do with it. The boy, looked up at the preacher and said, "Sir, I'm going to give it to my grandmother. There is nothing special that we can do. She is so good to me. She cooks for me and takes care of me. I wanted to give her that pretty flower for loving me." When the little boy finished, the preacher could hardly speak. He reached up and un pinned the rose. With the flower in his hand, he looked at the boy and said, "Son that is the nicest thing that I've ever heard but you can't have this flower because it's not enough. If you'll look in front of the pulpit, you'll see a big bouquet of flowers. Different families buy them for the Church each week. Please take those flowers to your granny because she deserves the very best." Then the boy made one last statement. The boy said, "What a wonderful day! I asked for one flower but got a beautiful bouquet."

Like that boy's grandmother, we have been so blessed. We haven't just received the flower of taking care of our daily needs, We have been given the bouquet of life. We ought to be thankful for little blessings, for the little we see, smell, hear, feel and can share with others. Whatsoever it is, give thanks.

Do You Have A Purpose?

It is pertinent to state here that knowledge of what a thing is the first step to knowing what it can be used for. An attempt to make use of a tool without knowledge of what it was designed to do is why most hitherto useful objects are misused. Being able to answer the question "Who are you?" is the determining factor in being able to ascertain where you should be from where you are. As Myles Munroe once said, "When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable"

Remember the wise saying, "...people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."

  While, Bronson Alcott said, "To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant."

The Indo-Pacific Sailfish, Istiophorus platypterus known to be the world fastest fish, which swims at breathtaking speeds of 110kph or at 68mph, if taken out of warm salt water, out of its natural habitat wouldn't be able to swim, talk more of swimming as fast because that's not the right environment for it. In the same way as humans there are certain environments that we cannot thrive because of our inborn traits, qualities, abilities and assignment. In other words, skills, knowledge, abilities and experiences are only useful if you are at the right place.

To be able to know where (our place) we ought to be in life we must search our souls. Ask the Creator what your purpose on earth is. What do you enjoy  doing?

There's a saying that goes: "Call to me and I will answer you. I'll tell you marvellous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own."

Like a student needs counselling and advice to know what career is suitable for him, so also we need guidance to be able to determine if we are at the right place or track in destiny.

We are only relevant in our natural habitat. Search your heart today and you'll most assuredly realise your purpose.
