"I do believe that if you haven't learnt about sadness, you cannot appreciate happiness." - Nana Mouskouri
Jean de la Bruyere said "There are only three events in a man's life;
birth, life, and death; he is not conscious of being born, he dies in
pain, and he forgets to live." It is a very lofty idea - matter of fact,
it is the only reasonable idea there is - to strive to achieve the
highest level of success life can offer: materially, financially et
cetera. I'm in full support of that. However, we fail to realize some
side attractions, that actually add spice to life in the process. We
forget to really live.
Here's a poem culled from a story by Bob Perks;
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
We realize how blessed we have been, only when we lose a
blessing. We don't realize how much love surrounding us, until we lose
it. It is very possible to have something vital so close to us, but fail
to see them because our gaze is somewhere else. Appreciate EVERYTHING
God Almighty allows you go through in life - good or bad, pleasant or
unpleasant. If there are no pains, you won't appreciate the joys, it's
all for a reason. I wish you enough today!
