THE MISSING PIECE

"Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest." - Mark Twain

We tend to focus on some of the long list of 'other' things we're commanded to do, but not on the command to rest from all of our doing? It's hard to say which of the two we fail at most miserably, our doing or our resting. It's a verifiable fact that nothing is complete without Jesus. He is the "Author" and the "Completer," the "Beginning" and the "Ending." Everything exists because of Him, and everything is missing something without Him: the thing that supplies true meaning and purpose to all things. This applies to everything.

"Anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death," seems like a gross and bizarre overreaction on God's part. In what universe does this punishment fit this crime? It makes sense that doing the wrong things should be a crime, but should failing to do nothing be a punishable offense? And so severely punished? God spoke of observing the Sabbath as a life and death issue because knowing Jesus - the source of real Sabbath rest - is a matter of life and death.

It's imperative to strive all we can to achieve great feats in 2016. However, it will be ironic to give time to everything else but rest - taking our health into consideration - that's a disaster waiting to happen. As a matter of fact, it's sin to ONLY WORK, and not rest. "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." Clearly, there's something missing without rest - Jesus Christ.

Let us pray: Father, fill the void in my life in Jesus name.

WISDOM NUGGET: James 4:17
"...to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." - KJV
