"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing." - George Bernard Shaw
In life sometimes, to learn how to do something we have to learn how not to do them; that is, do it the wrong way, or make a mistake. From the mistakes, if we're humble enough we'll realize many lessons embedded in the experience. Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.” Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”
Some lessons to learn after a Mistake:
Mistakes are better than regrets:
It hurts when you make a mistake; you're almost unsure of anything that you do. Painful as it may seem, sometimes making a mistake is better than having a regret. You can get over mistakes; it takes time. Yes. But regrets? they gnaw away at your soul. Mistakes are temporary and given enough time, we forget them. But regrets are those memories void of life that we carry to our graves. Scream. Run a few laps. Kick the cat if you can. Get it off your chest. Get over it, move on it’s alright. Everyone's had a fair share, but don’t regret it. Absorb it. Accept it. Fight the temptation to make it into anything other than it is: an error of judgement or action. That’s it, an error. It’s not your whole life!
Making mistakes isn't the end of the world; it actually gives you an opportunity to learn vital lessons. Don't set up a tent over your mistake, try to identify the "message" in the "mess" of your past mistakes and move a rung higher on the ladder of success. Mistakes aren't "fullstops", but "commas" in your life's story.
