Continued from yesterday:
Later that day, a commercial aired on with the automaker asking, "Wouldn’t you like to have this car in your driveway?" the husband responded, "Sure I would! I had one yesterday." As the day unfolded, his wife became increasingly upset as she remembered more and more of what had been in the now missing car - their wedding album, irreplaceable family photos from past generations, clothes, all of their camera equipment, wallet and checkbooks, just to name a few. These were items of little importance to their survival, yet they seemed of major importance now.
Anxious and frustrated, she asked her husband, "How can you joke about this when all of these things and our brand new car are missing?"
Looking at her, he said, "Honey, we can have a stolen car and be all upset, or we can have a stolen car and be happy. Either way, we have a stolen car. I truly believe our attitudes and moods are choices and right now I choose to be happy."
When all else fails and important things get stolen - physically or mentally - what stance do you assume? What do you chose to be? Happy, sad, depressed or angry? In every situation, no matter how bad you have the ability to determine whether you'll respond or react. The devil is ALWAYS looking for ways to steal your joy, that is one of his many job descriptions. But, in the midst of all that "badness" try to look the devil in the eyes and say, "Honey, I can have this bad situation and be sad, or I can have this bad situation and be happy. Either way, I have a bad situation but I chose to be happy." Never lose your joy!
