ABSENCE

"Have faith in your abilities. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy." - Norman Vincent Peale

Absence
Mother: "Why did you get such a low mark on that test?"
Junior: "Because of ABSENCE."
Mother: "You mean you were absent on the day of the test?"
Junior: "No, but the kid who sits next to me was."

Lack of confidence in yourself stifles your creative abilities. It breeds indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I learnt a life lesson during my secondary school days: during a Maths test. After looking through all the questions, I started. With confidence, I worked through the questions. When it was almost time to end, I glanced into my friend's answer sheet, and discovered his solution was different than mine. I canceled my work, copied his and submitted. The following week, as our teacher worked us through the solution to the questions I realized step by step, I'd been correct but I cancelled, and copied the wrong thing. As a result, I failed that test.

CHEERLEADERS WANTED

"Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy." - Norman Vincent Peale

Cheerleader
Motivation is a very powerful force, in fact some times more powerful than physical strength or ability, a man with a cheerful spirit, or that is been cheered on, has more energy reserve than one that is physically stronger but depressed. In my opinion we are all in need of cheerleaders at every stage of life, sometimes it could be our spouses, our children, a friend, a mentor, a colleague or even just the guy next door.

There was a fire in the big city, and the firemen flung their ladders together, and went up in their brave fashion to the topmost floor of the building; to rescue the people that were trapped. One after another was rescued by the brave firemen. Had all been rescued? it seemed. But no! As the firemen looked up they saw a white face at the highest window of the burning building.

THE GIFT OF A DAY (31); BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOUR DREAM

“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” - Norman Vincent Peale

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.” Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be. That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint and let you down. Those are the times you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself. There will be challenges to face, hurdles to scale and changes to make in your life, it's up to you to accept them. Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not - will not - be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are. So when those days filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities come, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be. The challenges and changes will only help you find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.
