THE GIFT OF A DAY (31); BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND YOUR DREAM
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble
but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or
happy.” - Norman Vincent Peale
Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a
filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his
assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned
nothing.” Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way
and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements
which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”
There may be
days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had
hoped they would be. That’s when you have to tell yourself that things
will get better. There are times when people disappoint and let you
down. Those are the times you must remind yourself to trust your own
judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in
yourself. There will be challenges to face, hurdles to scale and changes
to make in your life, it's up to you to accept them. Constantly keep
yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not - will not -
be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a
stronger sense of who you are. So when those days filled with
frustration and unexpected responsibilities come, remember to believe in
yourself and all you want your life to be. The challenges and changes
will only help you find the goals that you know are meant to come true
for you.
We must understand that just as not every
disappointment is palatable of enjoyable, so also is the fact that it's
not every pain that is meant to kill you. As long as there is breath in
your lungs, as long as it is called TODAY, try another material for your
experiment, take another exam, write another proposal again. Believe in
yourself and believe in your dream...if you don't, who will?
