SUSIE II

"God wants to rescue us, not destroy us..." - Sylvain Reynnard

Continued from yesterday...

This nine-year-old looks up after praying, towards him comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says, 'you have been discovered.' As the teacher walks toward him, Susie - his classmate - is coming towards him with a goldfish bowl filled with water. She trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy’s lap. The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!" All of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, he becomes the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs, gives him clean gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out.

All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. As it turns out, the ridicule that should have been his, has been transferred to

someone else - Susie. Isn't is amazing how God, like Susie deflects from us the devils plan to ridicule us?

Are you in such a fix, that makes you feel exposed? Do you think your sins are so dirty that you cannot escape? Yes, you might have made the mistake and wet your pants: it's a little while before you're discovered, and disgraced. Listen. Jesus was disgraced for your sake. For all your mistakes he came, bearing the bowl of water, tripping and emptying it all on you, to cover and wash your mistakes. Like Susie, God is close enough to help before the teacher - the devil - discovers your error. Cheer up!
