"Religion is part of the human make-up..." - Christopher Hitchens
Patrick Morley says, in his book I Surrender, that the church's integrity problem is in the misconception "that we can add Christ to our lives, but not subtract sin. It is a change in belief without a change in behaviour." He goes on to say that, "It is revival without reformation, without repentance." There's a story about the Devil walking along with one of his cohorts once upon a time. They saw a man ahead of them pick up something shiny. "What did he find?" asked the cohort. "A piece of the truth," the Devil replied. "Doesn't it bother you that he found a piece of the truth?" asked the cohort. "No," said the Devil, "I will see to it that he makes a religion
out of it."
Have you not wondered why the world perpetuate evil in the name of religion? It is because 'religion,' per se, is not really life changing, but Christianity is. People say it is important, but it doesn't have ability in determine right behaviour. That's what killed Jesus, religion.
There's great difference between, being Christ-like, and being religious. Religion does cloud people's mind to the truths of Christianity. Religion, is deadly and destructive. Religion is what makes 'the church' kill her weak, and wound her strong. Religion insists on 'going by the books' - humanistic desires. While Christianity insists on going by God's Word alone. Religion makes a man appear like, but is not real thing. Are you Religious, or Christ-like?
