HE WILL KNOW

"The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching." - John Wooden

He Will Know
A gentleman once visited a museum under construction. There, he saw a sculptor making a statue of a prominent personality. Just then, he noticed a similar sculpture lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor,

"Do you need two statues of the same personality?"

"No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged after it was unveiled the last time."

The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage.

"I can't seem to find the damage?" he complained.

"There is a scratch on the nose." said the sculptor, still busy with his work.

"Where will you put this new when you're done?" He asked.

"On a pillar about twenty feet high." Replied the sculptor.

"If the sculpture is that far, who will know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked. The sculptor stopped his work, smiled, looked up at the gentleman and said, "I know it and God knows it too!"

It is a very common behaviour, for us to do things shabbily, when there's no one there to monitor us. Even though it's common, it isn't correct. The desire to excel, and give our all to any task should be our lifestyle: whether or not anyone is there to commend us. Excellence should be our watch word...excel at a task today, not necessarily for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction and God's approval.

Others might not be able to see you in secret: when you do the things you do, but two people, yourself, and your conscience will always see you, and know the quality of your work, whether perfect or shabby. God knows if you gave one hundred percent, or not. You cannot deceive yourself - your conscience - and God. Keep that at the back of your mind, in whatever you do from today. God bless you.
