THE GIFT OF A DREAM (33); DON’T IGNORE THE SIGNS!!!

ONE of the greatest inventions of modern societies is the road traffic codes and signs. Imagine for a moment how tedious and totally unsafe driving would be without traffic lights and road signs telling us to slow down at bends, make turns, keep straight ahead, and sometimes stop for a moment before moving again. Statistics show that the violation of road signs is the number one cause of accidents especially over speeding.

After James finally learnt how to ride a bike, he enjoyed the thrill of acceleration and the rush of adrenalin in his system, he loved feeling the breeze blow across his face as he rode his bike everyday in the woods, and he enjoyed navigating corners at stop speed.

One evening as he rode through a country side coming downhill at top speed he noticed a road sign signaling that he slows down to make the turn. He didn’t want to lose his speed and felt he could make the bend and maintain his speed. Minutes later James collided with a tree, fortunately he came away with only a sprained ankle and some bruises but his bike was a total mess.

There is nothing as thrilling as pursing a dream and moving at stop speed, but like James we must not ignore the road signs, there are times we must slow down to re-strategize, replace team members, re-evaluate goals and objectives so that we can be better position to achieve our dreams. Losing speed does not mean failure. It is better to lose some speed at a turn than to lose the dream entirely. Friends don’t ignore the signs as you travel along the road of your vision.
