“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be
alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” - Marcus Aurelius
Good Morning |
The modern day as we know it is divided into 3 parts,
the Morning, Afternoon, and Night. As we examine "the gift of a day",
let me begin with the most important part of the day, “the Morning”. The lifestyle of the 21st century in
my opinion is designed to rob you of the morning. For some people it is almost
impossible to recall a day in 2013 that they were not in a break neck hurry
every morning. In mega-cities around the world, people practically eat
breakfast, make-up, and even brush their teeth en route work. There is never
enough time to create a mental picture of your day before embarking on it. It’s
like building a skyscraper on a hurried foundation. Interestingly, the morning
is the foundation of your day.
The great architect Frank Lloyd Wright was given
the challenge of building the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, one of the most
earthquake-prone cities in the world. Wright's investigation showed that a
solid foundation could be "floated" on a sixty-foot layer of soft mud
underlying the hotel, which would provide a shock-absorbing but solid support
for the immense building. Shortly after the hotel was completed it withstood
the worst earthquake in fifty-two years, while lesser buildings fell in ruins
around it.Have you ever wondered why people are surprised at how they handled a situation during the day? Why they never had time to think, or why they responded to everything as an emergency? The morning gives you the opportunity to anticipate situations, decide your responses, meditate on what should take your time and what should not, prioritize, or set your mood.
A simple determination to be cheerful all day can make the difference in that day. Friends what better way could there be than to start your day with a prayer to the one who knows the day even before you stepped into it. Protect your morning it’s your foundation.
